Error On The Side Of Caution

So, I’m watching a Lifetime movie, don’t really remember the name of it but this couple’s teenage daughter is murdered and the father becomes a suspect. The State comes in and takes the other children and puts them in foster home because the wife decides to stand by her husband, who is also the murdered girl’s father.
Now that the other children have been taken, there’s all kinds of doubt and stuff festering in the woman and the relationship between her and her husband is so strained and she just asked him if he killed their daughter. The look on dude’s face is one of complete disappointment and hurt. Damn, could you imagine if that were you, what would you do?
People often say they’d rather error on the side of caution but what about the wrongs that can’t be righted? This is just crazy to me cus’ I can see where they’re trying to protect the other kids but they are also destroying a family at the same time.
