Tis’ The Season – The Forgotten One’s
It’s during this time of year that people get in the spirit and think about giving to those less fortunate than they are. Usually this is the children, poor people etc.
I URGE people to not forget about what is a very large amount of people that often times fall through the gap. I don’t kow if it’s out of sight out of mind or what but there are plenty of senior citizens living in nursing homes and retirement centers all across America who never receive 1 visit let alone gift at this time of year.
I don’t know if it’s because their families don’t care about them, forgot about them, can’t get to them or whatever but I’ve worked in a place like this before and to see them sulk and depressed as their roommates and other people around them were picked up and/or visited by their families, broke my heart.
YES, disadvantaged children should receive gifts, etc., that’s really nice but, it would be so nice of some of you guys to stop by your local nursing home and drop off a few gifts. Stuff as simple as a personal hygiene gift bag with toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, soap, whatever is so greatly appreciated.
So if you’re looking for something philanthropic to do this season, how bout calling up a nursing home and asking them who their residents are that don’t have family and/or visitors and give them something.
