“One man was killed when police opened fire on a mob scavenging for food at a Port-au-Prince market” – this is just RIDICULOUS the man was looking for food not trying to kill someone!

“They are desperate,” said Alain Le Roy, the United Nations undersecretary-general of peacekeeping operations, adding that the Haitian people have gone “days without food or any assistance.”

Who is policing the police?  They should be better equipped with how to handle this!

I really HATE that the media is reporting all this “looting” and stuff going on in Haiti.  In my opinion it’s not considered “looting” when you’re trying to survive.

They did the same thing with Katrina, how the hell can it be called “looting” when people are just trying to survive.  Looting would be breaking into Gucci (if they had 1) taking purses and sh*t, people looking for food, water and necessities IS NOT LOOTING.  Can this stuff be done better, yes but tell that to someone trying to feed their child!

I don’t condone the violence that’s going on but I don’t condone them reporting it like people just woke up on a regular calm day in Haiti and decided to break in the local stores and started taking stuff!

People are DESPERATE and doing desperate things!  What would you do if it were you?

I understand there must be some controls put in place and that they can’t let people just run crazy in the state of shock and helplessness that they must feel but someone needs to be dealing with these people who are going to treat them like PEOPLE and not wild animals.

Man this is a shame that these people are being shot and being portrayed as animals. They are trying to survive. They aren’t getting shoes and TV’s, they need necessities. They’ve been without for 6 days now! All I can think about when I watch this coverage, is if that was my son sitting there terrified, starving, without a clue of what was going on, I would do ANYTHING to make sure he was ok and had food and water at least! These police need to get it together and have some sympathy. This is ridiculous and heart-wrenching. It disgusts me to the point of no words. Awful…
