Keisha Jones was taken into police custody Friday, after a month-long investigation that exposed her evil scheme.
Police say she tricked Monique Hunter — then seven months pregnant — into taking an over-the-counter drug that induces abortions. The drug caused Hunter, 25, to go into premature labor, investigators said.
Once Hunter gave birth to her son, Jones allegedly tried to polish off the job by sending bottled poison to the hospital, disguised as breast milk.
Kings County Hospital workers were immediately suspicious of the substance, and called police. Authorities say it was delivered in two 20-ounce Poland Spring bottles.
Hunter said she had been dating Jones’ husband, Anthony for three years — but never knew he was married.
On Oct. 26, Jones called Hunter and disguised her voice and caller-ID, fooling Hunter into believing she worked at her doctor’s office, sources said. She then advised Hunter to pick up a prescription at a pharmacy near Kings County Hospital, to ensure her baby didn’t have Down syndrome.
That’s when Hunter began taking Cytotec — a drug used to treat stomach ulcers that is also used to end pregnancies. Cops have not explained how the pharmacy went about dispensing the drug.
After taking her first dose, Hunter immediately went into labor and gave birth to her son, Anthony Jr. the following day.
Six days later, on Nov. 3, Keisha Jones called the hospital and advised workers she was sending breast milk for the baby. That’s when an unidentified man showed up with two suspicious containers of a white liquid. Cops did not reveal what chemical was in the bottles.
Hunter told police she only learned about the murder plot after giving birth.
Jones faces reckless endangerment and forged medical prescription charges, both felonies, and a misdemeanor criminal impersonation charge.
