Certain enthusiastic March 12 people must be careful of getting carried away by their faith in unearthly happenings.  Until they have developed a deep understanding of metaphysical and esoteric principles, they will tend to undermine their emotional stability if they overindulge in such thoughts.  A simultaneous development of worldly and spiritual goals usually suits them better, enhancing their daily life and promoting the stability needed for metaphysical ruminations.  Balance is the key to reducing the dangers associated with such leaps of thought and action.

I get it, trust me I do but I don’t get it…  The “internet” has been nominated for a Noble Peace Prize because of it’s “service” and how it helps get information out etc., but, WHO exactly would get the award?

Some argue that the internet is just as “bad” as it is good, for all of the disgusting, despicable stuff that you can find on it but I don’t know.  I seriously doubt that the “internet” would actually win The Nobel Peace Prize but it’s kind of funny it’s nominated.

K.I.M Says: I’ve heard about a few kids sniffing glue and stuff but it looks like this problem is more prevalent than I thought.  SAMHSA has released a report outlining the specifics.

When their kids turn 12, parents are concerned about peers pressuring them to smoke cigarettes, drink and use drugs, but it turns out 12-year-olds are doing something else: getting high on inhalants.

A new national survey from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration report finds that they’re using inhalants more than marijuana, hallucinogens and cocaine combined.

Some young people are sniffing — inhaling — a wide variety of products to get high. Inhalants are legal, cheap and everywhere. They can easily be found in most homes: spray paint, shoe polish, glue, air fresheners, hair spray, nail polish, gasoline, aerosols, computer cleaners, even the refrigerant from air conditioners.

“We continue to face the challenge of increasing experimentation and intentional misuse of common household products among the youngest and most vulnerable segments of our population: 12-year-olds,” said Harvey Weiss, executive director of the National Inhalant Prevention Coalition.

“The data are ominous, and their implications are frightening because of the toxic, chemical effects of these legal products on growing minds and bodies.”

According to the survey, 6.9 percent of 12-year-olds have “huffed,” while 1.4 percent have used pot, 0.7 percent hallucinogens and 0.1 percent cocaine. The report found 5.2 percent smoked cigarettes.

Huffing can be fatal, leading to “sudden sniffing death.”

Dr. Jennifer Caudle, director of the family medicine section of the Department of Internal Medicine at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, said it’s critical to educate adolescents about the dangers of huffing.

“Young people do not always realize the consequences of their actions. However, it is possible to die from trying inhalants even once. ‘Sudden sniffing death’ causes the heart to beat rapidly, which can result in cardiac arrest.”

Kevin Talley and his wife, Deborah, know that all too well. Their 17-year-old daughter, Amber Ann Suri, died after using inhalants in February 2009.

Talley said the teenager apparently had been inhaling for six months, but by the time they began to suspect something was wrong, it was too late.

“Parents must wake up to the reality that their child might try huffing and the consequences could be devastating,” said Pamela S. Hyde, administrator for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. “That’s why SAMHSA is leading the way to get information out to health care providers, kids, parents and everyone in the community so that our children hear a consistent message about the dangers of huffing.”

It’s a message 17-year old Ashley Upchurch said she now takes seriously. She said she started huffing when she was 11.

“Inhalants were cheap, legal and an intense high that would also enhance the feeling I would get from other drugs,” she said. “These highs nearly destroyed my life.” She’s been in recovery for two years.

Many experts said 12 is considered a gateway age for inhalant use, but the National Inhalant Prevention Coalition and Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration would like to slam that gate shut.

It is kicking off National Inhalants and Poisons Awareness Week, which starts Sunday. The American Osteopathic Association also is joining the national effort.

On Wednesday, Sony unveiled Move, its motion-sensitive controller.

A small device that looks like a microphone — but with something on top of it that looks like a ping pong ball with an LED inside — Move is Sony’s bid to gain control over the motion controller wars that are currently led by Nintendo, with its Wii controller, and which many think will be dominated by Microsoft and its Project Natal controller system.

To Sony, releasing the Move is an obvious move for the PlayStation, given it believes it started the motion controller era with its Eye Toy. Sony held its press conference during the Game Developers Conference here.

Now, the Move, which will be available this fall in a starter kit that begins at under $100 for a Move, a PlayStation eye camera and a game, is its attempt to jump ahead of Microsoft’s Natal and to begin winning over Wii users.

“We like to think that the migration path between Wii households and PlayStation households is a natural path,” said Peter Dille, Sony’s senior vice president for marketing and PlayStation.

Shuehei Yoshida, Sony’s president for worldwide studios, said Move will “demonstrate that the motion controller for PS3 will be the solution for both casual and hard-core gamers alike” and that the types of games Sony can create with it are “amazingly diverse.”

Among the types of games Move will work with include those that involve swords, bows and arrows, guns, punching and much more. The idea is that Move will provide players with a realistic and precise feeling of holding whatever kind of thing the game calls for, be it a sword or a gun.

Sony first talked about its new motion controller at E3 last year but didn’t have a name or any kind of timing. Now, by unveiling the device’s name it can begin what Dille said will be the company’s biggest video game marketing effort of the year.

While Sony is expecting consumers to use Move with a range of brand-new games, the company also clearly thinks that it will enhance game play in existing titles. As such, it showed off how Move can be used to move characters around in its hit title, Little Big Planet.

Further, the controller comes with its own accessory, known as a sub-controller, which will accentuate what’s possible with Move. And later this year, the forthcoming game SOCOM 4 will incorporate both Move and the sub-controller.

K.I.M Says: This 1 here is very CLOSE to me because I LOVE TJ Maxx!  I’m pretty eh with Marshall’s and I absolutely loathe Burlington Coat Factory (how do people shop there, that store is a mess).  Who knew Burlington Coat Factory was selling fake Fendi bags?  Now it looks like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s are selling fake Burberry and Burberry ain’t having it!

This means absolutely NOTHING to me cus’ I HATE that plaid mess but I know a lot of people who like it so check out the story below.

Fendi recently won an impressive $4.7 million dollar judgement against Burlington Coat Factory for continuing to sell fake Fendi bags. 

Now, Burberry claims TJX Co., the parent company of discount chains including T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, has been selling counterfeits in mass quantities, Reuters reports.

While millions of discount shoppers thought they were getting a designer steal, the Brit label headed toManhattan federal court alleging that TJX has sold everything from counterfeit Burberry jackets, photo frames, polo shirts to scarves and luggage, over a span of four years. 

According to the complaint, Burberry is hopping mad over TJX’s attempt “to attract their target customer base and profit at Burberry’s expense.” 

Not only is the luxury brand asking the court to stop the sale of the allegedly infringing products, but its lawyers are asking for triple damages and that TJX place “corrective advertisements.”

From Burberry’s courtroom track record, TJX better bring its legal A-game. The company known for its classic trenches recently took home a cool $1.5 million from a trademark infringement suit.

K.I.M Says: When I was a kid I used to STAN for “Little House On The Prairie”.  Most of you will probably be like, okay, K.I.M’s tripping with this post but I remember Mr. Ingall’s best friend.  Little House On The Prairie was the 1st family show I remember that dealt with real issues even though it was set many years ago.

On January 1 we reported that former football star and actor Merlin Olsen wassuing NBC Universal, NBC Studios, and 20th Century Fox for exposing him to asbestos over the years. Now comes word that Olsen has died of mesothelioma in California.

Olsen was someone who had successful careers in both sports and acting. TV drama fans will remember him from his roles in ‘Little House on the Prairie’ (he played Jonathan Garvey) and ‘Father Murphy’ (as the title character) and football fans will remember his long pro football career playing for The Los Angeles Rams. He was the 1962 Rookie of the Year and retired in 1976 after being named to the Pro Bowl fourteen times. He also had a career as a sports commentator and analyst.

Olsen had roles in other TV shows and movies as well, including ‘Aaron’s Way,’ ‘Fathers and Sons,’ ‘Kung Fu,’ ‘The Brian Keith Show,’ and ‘Petticoat Junction.’

So yesterday was pretty heavy for me, I was really upset all day until I heard back from the little girl that sent me the blog.  If you haven’t already read the blog now. So many of you guys reached out to me to ask about the little girl and I’m going to post her responses to me.  Everyone should be able to rest a little easier because she is NO LONGER in danger and is in counseling for this, it’s been a year and a half since it happened.

Yes I’m fine, if anything this issue has made me stronger. My siblings and I are getting help as we speak. I have talked to people about it…countless times. All i can do is try to move on…and live my life…for my younger siblings anyway. Luckily, they weren’t affected by anything… they were and still are so young at the time, they had no idea…I took a few hits and punches from my moms boyfriend for them…and even though the bruises are still there…I wouldn’t have it any other way, there was a few times…where he wouldnt let me…but they’re fine. Me being the oldest…guess i was the easiest target. My mom would leave for weeks and weeks of a time…leaving us with her boyfriend..to do all sorts of crazy things to us.. I’ve got to stay strong for my brother and sister, they’re the reason i’m still living actually. And thanks Ms. kim that means, ALOT. And ha okay.. Don’t worry, I’m fine. And at the end of the day, I just look back at it…and eb thankful for what we have accomplished… and what we no longer have to go through… It’s been 7 years since i’ve seen my mom…7 years living with him…..but now we’re with our bilogical father…it’s good…we’re good…well physically anyway. Don’t worry about a thing Ms. Kim, We got lucky…we’re safe now.

Yeah…we are too, my brother and sister are coping with it better than i am. but they are like 4 and 7 they don’t really understand much, my dad is a real nice guy..and if he knew he would’ve came running..but he had no idea where my mom had taken us… And yes i did see the comments, that was amazing, and i saw the video too. Please don’t cry ms kim..the last thing i would want is for anyone to feel bad for us. We got lucky, we’re one of the lucky ones. how much people die from this stuff every year? It’s been a year and a half since..and i honestly think i’m moving on, i think that was the end of it was that blog..i think i can actually try and live my life now, the comments really helped. well, that and counseling of course thank you so much ms kim. If anything should happen, you’ll be the first one i call. I already wrote your number down. thanks again.
