Recession Special: Quality Over Quantity

It’s no secret and becoming clearer everyday that THIS RECESSION IS REAL and it’s only going to get worse. I think everybody in their right mind is looking for ways to save and in the music industry it’s becoming more and more evident that they just aint’ spending the money on artists anymore. The consumers definitely aint spending money on these horrible ass CDs that are being put out so how can we help the industry (put out some n*ggas with REAL TALENT, but that’s another blog altogether) and the consumer at the same time?
We here at the K.I.M blog, okay, there is no “we” it’s just “me”, but that sh*t sounded good, right? Anyway, here’s my stimulus plan for the industry/artists.
Can we please stop with the CDs with 16+ tracks of bullsh*t! I’ve heard so many people complaining about the quality of the music being released now. Everyone already knows that at least 14 of those tracks are throw-away songs. N*ggas know what it is and frankly, they don’t like and are getting tired of that sh*t. How about trying this…
If you know the artists only has 2 maybe 3 good songs and since these cats aint’ selling anyway, how about releasing an EP instead for half the price. If you do that then there will probably be double the sales, the bootlegger will be kinda pushed out cus’ if you selling an EP for say $5 and the bootleg dude is selling it for $5, most people are going to get the authentic thing. The artists shouldn’t be that upset cus’, let’s be honest, most of them aint’ making no money off the sales anyway, how many points are these kids really getting? And you kind of force the bootlegger’s out of business cus’ you would force their hand to lower their product price so much it wouldn’t financially make sense.
Example: When a drug dealer is trying to take over a new block they usually come with some specials like putting extra in their packages, 2-for-1 or some sh*t and force the competition out of business. How do I know this? It just came to me in a dream, I take the 5th, lol! Just jokes, I ain’t never sold no damn drugs but since most industry people “claim” to have been in that business I used that as an example. On a side note, I find it incredibly interesting that a n*gga can run an illegal business perfectly but when it comes to some legit stuff, he can’t hang, smh…
Recently I was at a major label talking to my friend and suggested the same thing to him and he said the labels won’t release EPs cus’ they don’t know how to market them. Ummmmmm, really, okay, last I checked these labels aint’ marketing n*ggas with full length CDs either so what’s the difference?
The other thing I suggest is a mixtape-ish compilation type CD. Again, these labels know when they are putting out bullsh*t! They know when the artist only has 2 songs on the CD. Why not put out a compilation CD with 2 HOT songs from all the acts in that particular genre on your label and package, promote and sell the hell out of 1 FIRE ass CD! I’m just saying, it’s not rocket science and seems pretty simple to me. On the other hand, the shit they’re doing now aint’ working so it couldn’t possibly hurt anything.
Moral of this post: PEOPLE ARE F*CKING TIRED OF QUANTITY OVER QUALITY… if it doesn’t change the music industry is going to become the new T-REX (for yall slow mothaf*ckas, that means EXTINCT)
